Calvin Stalvig is a teacher, learner, adventurer and artist who grew up on the shores of Lake Superior. He has been teaching for 11 years in rural and urban communities in Minnesota, Wisconsin, New York, and Guatemala — and has taught children, teenagers, and adults English, Spanish, culinary chemistry, American history, economics, urban aquatic ecology, welding, textile craft, farming, and more. His work explores, addresses, and supports resiliency, community building and advocacy, youth leadership, sustainability, women's rights, systemic oppression, craftsmanship, and public education. Currently, he is the Director of Teen and Apprenticeship Programming at Beam Center in Brooklyn, NY and teaches teenagers how to teach children in after-school programs.
