EMPOWERING YOUTH TO REACH THEIR FULL POTENTIAL

Friends of the Children is a national nonprofit with the mission of impacting generational change by empowering youth who are facing the greatest obstacles through relationships with professional mentors – 12+ years, no matter what.

With over 26 years of data and outcomes to support the efficacy of our model, the data shows that:

  • 83% of youth receive a high school diploma or GED
  • 93% of youth remain free from involvement in the juvenile justice system
  • 98% of youth wait to parent until after their teen years
  • 92% of youth go on to enroll in post-secondary education, serve our country or enter the workforce

Our Friends are full-time, salaried professionals who spend 3-4 hours every week with each of their youth. The Friends develop a roadmap for each child and design activities to build life skills. We create meaningful experiences to explore each child’s unique talents and interests. Friends of the Children has developed nine research-based Core Assets, which are specific qualities we focus on to ensure the social and emotional development of our youth.

Youth and Friends are the superstars of Friends of the Children – this is an opportunity to celebrate our Friends and their dedication to using best practices! Go to friendsofthechildren.org to learn more.

About the Superstar Foundation

The Superstar Foundation was founded in 2007 with a two-fold mission:

  • To identify and reward individuals who use data to improve outcomes for underserved individuals, families and communities.
  • To promote and advance transformative relationships as the driving force to outcome achievement in the social services sector;

As health, education and social services continue to progress towards better measurement of outcomes, the Superstar Foundation believes that transformative relationships and a commitment to data-based decision making at the level of engagement is the key to all long-term, sustainable improvement in the lives of those we serve.
