Tom Sun was born in Cambodia and came to the United State at a very young age. He resided in Boston for a few years before moving to Lowell in 1987 with his mother and siblings. He found himself hanging out with the wrong crowd and eventually ended up in a gang. After years of seeing his friends’ lives cut short or changed for the worse, Tom chose to leave. He realized that gang life would not offer long-term success, safety or happiness.

Now married and a father of three children, he looks to share his experience and wisdom to youth who are in the same predicament as he once was. Tom spent two years volunteering with the Chinese Youth Essential Services in Boston, tutoring and planning events with youth. Before becoming a Transitional Coach, Tom worked at UTEC as a Workforce Development program supervisor.
